Partha Sarkar started learning ‘Bansuri’ from his father, Sri Kumud Ranjan Sarkar, at the age of seven. Later on, he received guidance from his father’s guru Pt. Jugal Kishore Sarkar, and since the year 2003, he has been a disciple of Padmavibhushan Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasiaji at Vrindaban Gurukul, Mumbai and Pandit Partha Chatterjee. From 2011, he has been residing at ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkata after getting selected as a scholar there and is studying classical music there under the tutelage of Pandit Ulhas Kashalkarji. Partha has a ‘Sangeet Ratna’ in music from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. He has performed in various prestigious music festivals in India as a solo player from the tender age of 12. He also does duet performances with his violinist brother, Sidharth. Since the year 2005, Partha accompanied his Guru, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasiaji in his concerts, as a second flautist till 2010.
