Myra Made Color
Howto & Style
Hey there! If you're looking for Hooked and Dyed - you've found the right place. New name, same content! I’m here to share my continued fascination with natural dyes. *Please also see my written experiments at myramadecolor.com *I’m often sharing my current dye and knitting projects over on Instagram and Facebook. Come say hi! With natural dyes, there is no single way to do it. Yes, there are general guidelines, this is chemistry after all, but the variability keeps it interesting. Once you learn the basic rules- the experiments never end! I usually premordant my animal fiber with either alum or iron. This helps the dye absorb into the fiber (which helps prevent color fading or washing out). I dye in small batches to achieve the brightest, boldest, richest color possible.
