Established in 1961 by the Govt. of India, the NCERT functions as an autonomous organization, providing guidance to both Central and State Governments on policies and initiatives aimed at improving the quality of school education. NCERT, along with its constituent units, is dedicated to researching school education, creating model textbooks, developing supplementary materials and multimedia resources, conducting teacher training programs, promoting innovative educational practices, and fostering collaboration with diverse stakeholders. Serving as a hub for educational ideas and information, NCERT also acts as a central agency for the Universalization of School Education. Moreover, NCERT actively participates in bilateral cultural exchange programs, collaborates with international organizations, and offers training facilities. The major 8 constituent units, encompass the NIE; CIET; PSSCIVE, and various RIEs, Collectively shaping India's educational landscape.
