Can I Edit Videos on a Low-End Computer?

I have a computer with only 8GB of RAM and an N4000 processor, which is quite low-end. Is it possible to edit videos with this setup? What programs would you recommend that could work well given these limitations?

Absolutely, you can edit videos on a low-end computer, but it will come with some limitations. I personally found Kdenlive to be a decent option for video and audio editing. It's open-source and versatile enough for basic to somewhat professional editing tasks. However, keep in mind that performance can vary based on your specific hardware.

Another great alternative is using online video editors. These tools leverage server power, which means less strain on your computer. For instance, I’ve heard good things about Clipchamp, especially for simple editing tasks. It offers features like automatic subtitles and TTS, which can be very handy.

If you're looking for something that can handle the editing process with minimal lag, using proxies is a smart move. This means working with low-resolution versions of your clips during editing, which your computer can handle better. Once you’re ready to export, you can relink to the high-resolution files for the final render.
