How Can I Improve My YouTube Thumbnails and Titles for Better CTR?

I've been running my fishing channel, 'The Essex Angler,' for 2-3 years and have around 2200 subscribers. My click-through rate (CTR) has been hovering between 3-6%, and I'm looking for ways to enhance my thumbnails and titles to convert more impressions into views. What strategies or tips do you suggest for improving these elements?

I've been analyzing my own thumbnails and found that focusing on the subject matter is crucial. Instead of using a lot of arrows and backgrounds, I started showcasing the fish more prominently. For instance, in my '2023 WAS AN AMAZING YEAR FISHING' video, I realized that while the background was stunning, the fish and I were too small in the frame. By making the fish the star of the thumbnail, I attracted more viewers.

I recommend experimenting with your titles. Make them more engaging and provocative. Instead of a straightforward title, try something that sparks curiosity. For example, instead of 'Fishing in Essex,' consider 'You Won't Believe What I Caught in Essex!' This change can entice viewers to click, as it adds an element of intrigue.
