Can I get disapproved for the YouTube Partner Program due to copyrighted music?

I recently reached 1,000 subscribers and met the watch hour requirement for the YouTube Partner Program. However, my application was denied because of a clip that included copyrighted music. I've deleted all problematic content and plan to reapply soon, but I'm concerned about a video that is currently gaining views and features a copyrighted song. Should I delete it before reapplying to avoid further delays?

In my experience, it's best not to delete the video just yet. Instead, consider reaching out to the copyright holder for the song. If you can obtain formal permission to use the music, that could help clear any potential issues with your application. Make sure to draft a revenue-sharing agreement as well, so that both parties are protected.

I faced a similar situation and opted to keep my video while seeking permission from the copyright holder. It took some time, but ultimately, they agreed to let me use the song in exchange for a share of the revenue. This way, I didn't lose the views or engagement from that video while also ensuring compliance with YouTube's policies.

If you delete the video, you might lose valuable views and engagement. Instead of deleting it, I recommend using YouTube's dispute system if you receive a copyright claim. Sometimes, the copyright holders are more lenient than you might think, especially if your content is original and you’re willing to collaborate.

I've learned that communicating openly and professionally with copyright holders can yield positive results. When I had a similar issue, I drafted a clear email explaining my situation and my intentions for the video. Many copyright holders appreciate this approach and may grant permission or suggest an alternative.
