Does Commenting on Other YouTube Videos Contribute to Channel Growth?

I've been contemplating whether commenting on other YouTube videos can actually help in growing my own channel. I keep my YouTube presence separate from my personal viewing habits, but I’m often one of the first to comment on new videos. Given that I have a catchy username, I'm curious if anyone has experienced tangible benefits from this strategy. Has anyone found that their comments led to more subscribers or engagement with their channel?

From my experience, commenting on other videos hasn't resulted in significant growth for my channel. I once had a comment that received over 20,000 likes, but surprisingly, I didn't gain a single subscriber from it. It seems that while a high number of likes can boost visibility, it doesn't necessarily translate into subscribers.

I've noticed that some creators gain a lot of subscribers by being quite active in the comments section across various channels. They post frequently on multiple videos, and as their comments gain traction, they start to build a following. However, this approach often feels a bit spammy, and the channels can sometimes have little to no content. So, while it might work for some, it's not a guaranteed method for everyone.

I tried commenting on videos from creators who focus on similar content, and I even got featured in their videos a couple of times. However, this didn't lead to any noticeable growth for my channel, especially since the creator stopped making content shortly after. If I come across another creator in my niche, I'll definitely give it another shot, but I’m not expecting much from it.
