Is an RPM of $0.01 normal for a newly monetized YouTube channel with 116k views?

I recently got monetized on YouTube after only two months, but I'm shocked to see that my RPM is just $0.01 despite having 116k views. Is this common for new channels, especially in the soft ambient music niche? Could my RPM improve over time?

Since you're calculating RPM from the overall view count, the number you're seeing right now isn't representative of your actual performance with monetized views.

It's typical for RPM to be low immediately after monetization. When I got monetized, my initial RPM was also around $0.05 because it factored in previous views that weren't monetized.

While it may seem unusual, you should give it some time. RPM can improve if you upload higher quality or more engaging content and gain more monetized views.

The low RPM is likely due to it including views you received before monetization, which didn't generate any revenue. Your RPM will better reflect your actual earnings once you start uploading videos after monetization.

Remember, it's only been one day since you were monetized. It will take time to accumulate data that gives a true picture of your earnings.
