Why is my RPM so different across various YouTube channels?

I've recently monetized a new travel channel and noticed that its RPM is significantly higher than my other channels, including a game development channel. My travel channel has an RPM of £6.36 ($8.10), while the game dev channel is only at £1.43 ($1.85). I'm curious about the factors that can lead to such a disparity in RPM across different content types. What are your experiences with RPM on your channels?

In my experience with a niche channel focusing on financial advice, my RPM is around $12. The reason for this higher RPM is that finance-related content tends to attract advertisers from high-value industries, like investment and banking, who are willing to pay a premium for targeted ads.

My RPM fluctuates a lot based on the season and trends. For instance, my fitness channel can skyrocket to $10 during New Year resolutions but drop to $3 in the off-season. I think the time of year and audience behavior play a huge role in how much advertisers are willing to pay, which directly affects RPM.

I run a pet care channel that averages about $4.50 RPM. The pet care niche is competitive, but it's also quite broad. I've found that my RPM fluctuates depending on the type of content I post. Informational videos about pet care tend to attract higher-paying ads compared to more casual content.

I've noticed that my channels can have drastically different RPMs too. For example, my cooking channel has an RPM of about $5, while my tech review channel is around $2. I think it really comes down to the type of content and the audience's purchasing power. Cooking content often has a broader audience and more advertisers willing to pay for ad space.

I totally relate to your experience! My RPM is currently around $14.50 AUD with my DIY content. The reason my RPM is so high is that my audience is quite affluent and often looking to purchase materials for their projects soon after watching my videos. This indicates that advertisers see a lot of value in targeting my specific niche, which drives up my RPM.
