Is My YouTube Channel at Risk for Featuring a Banned Friend?

I recently learned that my friend's YouTube channel was banned, and he started a new one where he reuploaded his previous videos. Unfortunately, this new channel also got banned due to the reuploads. I often feature him in my videos, and while I haven't received any strikes and try to follow the guidelines, I'm concerned about the implications of having him in my content. Specifically, could my channel be at risk just by having him featured in my videos, and what can I do to minimize any potential issues?

I think you're probably safe as long as your content doesn't violate any community guidelines. As one commenter pointed out, YouTube doesn't seem to have a strict rule against featuring banned users, unlike platforms like Twitch. However, if your friend was banned for something serious, it might be wise to reconsider featuring him in future videos.

From my experience, it's unlikely that YouTube actively scans for banned users appearing in other channels. While it might not be a current policy, there's always a chance that YouTube could change its stance in the future. I wouldn't worry too much about past videos, but it's a good idea to keep an eye on your friend's activities and avoid featuring him moving forward.

I completely understand your paranoia, especially since your friend just got banned again. While there seems to be no active enforcement of a policy against featuring banned users, the nature of YouTube's guidelines can be unpredictable. I would advise erring on the side of caution and avoiding any future collaborations with him, especially if his content or behavior could reflect poorly on your channel.

It's essential to consider the type of content your friend was creating. If it wasn't related to harassment or severe violations, then you're likely in the clear. However, if he was banned for something that could lead to a lot of negative attention, you might want to limit his appearance in your videos to prevent any backlash from viewers.
