Should I Focus More on Shorts for My Political and Combat Sports Commentary Channel?

I've recently started my channel, Politics & Punches w/Jake, focusing on political commentary and combat sports. My first Short has performed significantly better than my regular videos, bringing in more subscribers and views in a short time. Given this, I'm considering whether I should pivot towards creating more Shorts, especially since my content is aimed at a younger audience. What do you think?

I totally understand your dilemma! It’s great to see that your Short is doing well. However, one of the key points to remember is that you might not have enough data yet to make a solid decision. I suggest taking the next few months to experiment. Create a mix of both Shorts and regular videos, and pay attention to what resonates more with your audience. This way, you can gather meaningful data before committing to one format.

Experimentation is crucial, especially in your niche! Political commentary and combat sports can be fascinating in both long-form and short-form content. Shorts could potentially allow you to engage a younger audience who prefers quick, digestible content. But don't underestimate the value of longer videos where you can delve deeper into complex political issues or fight analyses. Balance your content and see which format garners more engagement over time.

It’s definitely worth considering the trends among younger audiences. Many Gen Z viewers have shorter attention spans, so adapting your content to fit that model could be beneficial. However, it’s also important to stay authentic to your style and the depth of your analysis. If you feel that your political commentary needs more context, perhaps continue with some longer videos while also providing shorter takes or highlights in Shorts.
