Is it worth buying a YouTube channel, and what are the implications for ownership?

I've been considering the idea of buying an old YouTube channel as a shortcut to success on the platform. However, I have several concerns, especially regarding ownership transfer. Will I also get the associated Gmail account and phone number? How does the process of new ownership work? Is this really a viable option, or am I better off building my own channel from scratch?

A major concern I have with buying a channel is the potential for scams. There are many people offering channels for sale, but how do you know they didn’t buy the subscribers themselves? Engaging with your audience authentically is crucial, and if you simply purchase a channel, you might find that the community you hoped to tap into is not interested in your content.

Buying a YouTube channel raises a lot of red flags. From my own experience, I can tell you that creating your own channel and building an organic fan base is far more rewarding and sustainable. When you buy a channel, you might inherit the subscribers, but they are often not engaged with the content you plan to create.
