Is my YouTube channel being punished by the algorithm?

I've been struggling with my YouTube channel lately, feeling like I'm being punished by the algorithm. I started my channel in 2020 and initially had little success until I boosted a video on Facebook, which gained some traction. Now, after putting a lot of effort into my content, most of my long-form videos are barely getting any views. I've noticed that my Shorts are performing better, but I'm concerned that the algorithm is holding me back due to my past actions. Is this a common experience? What can I do to improve my channel's visibility?

I can relate to your situation. After investing a lot of time and effort into my channel, I still found it hard to gain traction. The truth is, the YouTube algorithm is very complex and sometimes unpredictable. It doesn't necessarily punish you for past actions, but rather, it rewards content that consistently engages viewers. Focusing on improving your video quality, thumbnails, and titles can make a huge difference in how your videos are recommended.

From my experience, the algorithm may not be punishing you but rather reflecting the current state of your content and its competition. It's normal for channels to struggle, especially when they are inconsistent. I suggest trying to create a consistent upload schedule and experimenting with different types of content to see what resonates with your audience.

It's easy to feel discouraged, but I've found that engaging with communities on platforms like Reddit can help boost your visibility. Sharing your videos in relevant subreddits can attract new viewers who are genuinely interested in your content. This has worked for me; some of my videos gained more views because I actively promoted them in the right places.
