Why are my Greek language videos being recommended to non-Greek speakers?

I've been facing a puzzling issue with my YouTube channel, which primarily targets Greek-speaking audiences. Despite my efforts to optimize my videos with Greek titles, thumbnails, and descriptions, I've noticed that some of my videos are being recommended alongside content in other languages, like Polish, Russian, Spanish, and Thai. I'm trying to understand why this is happening and how I can prevent it in the future.

Another important aspect is the accuracy of your subtitles. If you have subtitles in Greek and they are accurately translated, YouTube can auto-generate translations for viewers in other languages. This could lead to non-Greek speakers discovering your content. I always double-check my subtitles to ensure they are correct, as this can significantly influence who sees your videos.

Another factor could be the presence of English words in your thumbnails. When I started including English phrases in my titles or visuals, I noticed a shift in my audience reach as well. This might signal to the algorithm that your video has a broader appeal, leading it to suggest it to non-Greek speakers who have shown interest in related topics.

From my experience, one reason this might be happening is due to the broader interests of the viewers who are watching your content. YouTube's algorithm often recommends videos based on the viewer's overall interest profile rather than just the specific content's language. So, even if your video is in Greek, if someone enjoys similar themes or topics that intersect with your content, it could pop up in their recommendations.

It's also worth considering that when you're a newer channel, YouTube's algorithm is still figuring out your content's niche. When I was just starting out, I found that my videos sometimes appeared in unexpected places until the algorithm had enough data to better categorize them. As you upload more content, the recommendations typically become more refined.
